Wow! Ringkollen was awesome. Long day in the end, but it was all worth it with the skiing that we got done, and all the happy faces!

Elling from Salomon picked me up at 10 am in Oslo, before we drove up to Ringkollen. Not far really, just a 30/40 minute drive.

Together with Øystein Bråten, Halvard Thon, Oskar Pedersen and  Lasse Nyhaugen we coached skiers for a good 4 hours, and it was really a good session. Happy faces all over the place, and the level of skiing was just crazy when you consider how young some of the skiers were.

The weather did not play against us for once, which helped a lot.

My group consisted of 9 skiers. Happy group!

After the long session in the park, we picked out 4 skiers that moves on to a video-final online. Unlike last year we have the whole session as an jam-session, were we just ski in groups and have fun. No pressure, the way it’s supposed to be. When we called it a day at 8.30 in Ringkollen, we headed out on the road towards Dombås. Long drive, but so worth it as it was bluebird and perfect park in Dombås today.

Good session cruising the park at Dombås today with Øystein and Oskar, were we finished off with a nice dinner outside in the skiresort.

Time to get some sleep and get it going with stage 2 in the Salomon Jib Academy tour tomorrow. Stoked to ski with them boys and girls in the afternoon!

Peace, S.

Back and forth, all the time. Yesterday was a long day, just as expected, with delayed flight and train to Oslo. Got to bed at 02.00 am, and now I am ready to rock with Salomon Jib Academy in Ringkollen just outside Oslo.

Relaxing at the hotel before heading out in an hour, should be fun to ski in a resort I have never been in.

Going straigth to the next skiresort in the Jib Ac tour tonight, Dombås. I guess this day would be pretty long too.

Coaching at home turf

Today I got to do something fun, coach skiers from my homeplace, at my home-resort, Storlien.

Stoked skiers in the storm. It was hard to do anything at all today, with the 10 m/s winds and snow, but noone can call all youths lazy! We were out all day kicking it!

Fun day, all in all. Drove back home after skiing, and I am now on my way to the airport. Bad weather has delayed all flights today, and it’s going to be a long night.

See you in Oslo! S.

Long day yesterday, again. Just crawled out of bed and had breakfast at Hotel Storlien at LeSki, in Storlien, Sweden. We had a mellow night in Budapest on Saturday night, as our flight was at 1150 this morning. Our flight was through Oslo before Trondheim. I got to spend two hours at home, repacking for the whole week before driving up to Storlien. I am here to coach skiers in the park, and have fun all day before leaving for Oslo in the night. Should be fun in the storm!

Norwegians flight 1551 from Budapest to Oslo

Oslo Airport Gardermoen. This is actually my work, except it’s at Trondheim Airport. Baggage, pushback, startup, and generally everything a plane needs to get going again. Fun to work with airplanes!

Gotta get going, skiing it is! Stoked!!

Late night out last night, checking out the nightlife. Pretty fun!

We were totally in tourist-mode today, trying to see what Buda had to offer us Norwegians.

Really beautiful city to wander around in, and the weather helped us out today. Perfect day!

Budapest is divided into two parts, Buda- and Pest. You can see the Buda-side on the picture with the river dividing the two parts.

I know I shouldn’t be blogging about buildings and architecture, but this city is full of beautiful buildings and castles.

We went to check out the Gellert-spa, supernice warm water where we were surrounded by architecture that looked like it was taken straight out from a movie in the old Roman times.

See what I mean? This made my day, it was so relaxing and peaceful.

Thumbs up from me!

Me checking out the city from a big hill on the Buda-side. They had this huge castle on top of the hill that had something to do with the second world-war.

Marius enjoying the view.

Getting artsy with the iPhone photos.

And look what I found!! Oldschool Bomba-can. Too bad it wasn’t the real deal. Or, it did not taste as Bomba does.

Time to go back home and repack my bags tomorrow. Busy period of the winter coming up.

Lovely to get a little time off skiing and get recharged for the busy period to come. 0630 flight from Trondheim this morning, and I got to sit in the cockpit for the first time with a friend that works in the airline we flew with. Super-excited to finally beeing able to do so. I am really into airplanes for those of you who didn’t know that, and I didn’t get less excited after the flight-leg this morning. Wonderful clear weather on the way to Oslo.

Somwhere over Malmø, Sweden on our way to Budapest.

As far as my knowledge goes, Budapest is well known for its architecture and buildings. Seems about right, as most of the buildings were pretty damn insane.

At the airport in Budapest we were warned by signs that sketchy pirate-taxi companies were trying to trick you into riding their cabs for higher prices than normal. Of all the legit taxi-companies that were outside the airport, me and Marius managed to choose the most sketchy of them all. Classic rookie mistake.

A little sceptical, perhaps?

Another thing that I got to experience the first 5 minutes in this country, was the price-levels. At this fancy restaurant me and Marius had lunch WAY over our style and class, but managed to pay less than a sandwich would cost at home, for both of us.  Crazy country!

FACEBOOK….?

Time 4 spa and relaxation.

As I never go anywhere without music, I made sure to bring some real sound this time. BOOM!

Time to have some dinner.

Park-skiing = Snow-shovelling

A complete whiteout scenery was what met me in the morning-hours today. I was hoping for a little sunshine but I was wrong. The groomed park from last night had snowed completely over, and the wind had made it even more hard to ski. In fact, I spent 30 minutes digging out the shape of the kicker on jump number two in the main park in Storlien. What a job!  When I finally saw the basic shape of the kicker and got to give it a try, the wind kicked in. It’s impossible to get a perfect day in Sweden or Norway when skiing.

Second jump, half-way through out my little snow-shovelling workout. I feel that all I have been doing this week has been to move snow.

I didn’t even care to move all the snow. I wanted to hit jumps!

Allthough it was windy, the sun came for a short visit and I ended up doing backflips for the rest of the day.

I had a quick lunch before I drove back home to repack my bags. Going international again tomorrow.Time to have two days off before a busy month starts on monday.  See you when I get there :-)

Peace out, S.

Ski every day, if only for a while!

I think that will be my new winter-motto! Everything is more than nothing, right? After yesterdays not so successful session in Meråker, I was hungry for a little skiing today. The only problem was that my alarm-clock was set at 0330 am to go to work, and that did not get me on a pair of skis. Or, so I thought.

When I clocked out from work at 1, I went straight home, grabbed my skis, packed my bag, and drove the way up to Storlien. I got a full hour with pow-skiing, doing butters and tailgrabs in the deep snow that has fallen last night and today. SO much fun! Cant’t wait to ski tomorrow!
